Our Story
It began with two career pivots, one data science program, and a day in Williamsburg that almost ended as just a very long hangout.
Chapter 01
A Change of Course
Lee was ready to leave executive compensation behind and find a new path. Ant was chasing data science after buying into the promise of the “sexiest job of the 21st century”—and looking for a change of scenery along the way. They met in NYU’s data science program just before COVID sent everything online. Ant planned to keep his head down, study, and skip the socializing. Then he met Lee, developed a crush, and started telling his friends about her anyway.
Chapter 02
The Almost-Date
When Ant returned to New York that summer, he and Lee spent an entire day bar-hopping through Williamsburg. Ant never made a move, and they went their separate ways. One week later, at Alex Dong’s legendary Astoria Park birthday hangout, they ended the night together at Ant’s place—the “gold standard” of Midtown Manhattan. That finally did it. From then on, they were inseparable, and eventually Ant persuaded Lee to trade New York for a new home in Northern Virginia.
Chapter 03
Different, Together
Coming from completely different backgrounds, they built a life around sharing what each loves. Ant introduced Lee to football—she can now name all 32 starting NFL quarterbacks—and Lee sharpened Ant’s eye for politics, culture, and the kind of esoteric trivia she seems to know about everything. The years since have been filled with travel, reconnecting with their Asian heritage, eating extremely well, and spending questionably responsible amounts on thrifted vintage home décor. Together, it somehow all fits.
